The beauty industry rakes in billions of dollars annually just in anti-aging products and age-reversing cosmetic procedures.
We’re told to drink water, apply moisturizer, wear sunscreen, consume foods high in antioxidants, and we do all that, but we’re not getting the results we want.
Following those beauty regimes are important and have been proven to slow down signs of aging, but there’s another effective method that hasn’t been getting lot of hype, until now.
A new study revealed that women were able to appear younger and reduce their facial and neck wrinkles by doing one simple workout.
The best part is that it won’t cost you a cent. That means no cosmetic procedures and no expensive creams.
So what is all the hype about?
Researchers from Northwestern University found that facial yoga or facial workouts make women look at least two years younger.
Facial workouts are “non-invasive, non-toxic, at-home exercises that anyone can perform [that] can possibly slow or correct the appearance of volume loss in the face,” lead author Dr. Murad Alam said. “Facial attractiveness and youth are associated with a smooth, full facial contour, so even a modest improvement of facial contour is a win for patients.”
These exercises are thought to strengthen facial muscles and make them look fuller and firmer, reducing common wrinkle lines around the eyes, mouth, and on the forehead and neck.
Researchers conducted the study on 16 women aged between 40 to 65 years old with mild to moderate skin cell degeneration between March and July.
They attended two 90-minute facial exercise sessions, where they were taught 32 simple workouts. All participants performed 30-minute exercises every day for eight weeks at home.
Twenty weeks later, doctors assessed their before-and-after photographs, and tried to guess the participants’s ages. Doctors thought each participant was at least two years younger than they were at the time of the study.
Facial yoga can not only give you a mini face lift, but it can also get rid of eye bags, improve facial circulation, and relieve lymphatic congestion.
